Research Groups and Hotspots
Our School of Educational Sciences (ECEDU in Spanish) counts on several research communities that conduct research on specific topics related to education and society, formulate problems of interest, draw up a long- or medium-term strategic plan to work on them and produce knowledge results on the topic in question. These hotspots carry out research activities that go beyond the formal academic process and that dynamize the acquisition of research competencies.
Currently, the School counts on the Research Group VIRTUALEX whose hotspots research in the field of language education, theoretical and applied linguistics, educational technologies, and other related disciplines in the social and human sciences. Below, the hotspots belonging to VIRTUALEX are listed.
You are cordially invited to join one of these working groups and take part in the actions and research projects that are developed there. Write to the leader by email.

CIPAS
The Communities of Interaction and Social Participation (CIPAS in Spanish) are learning communities formed by students and guided by a teacher. In these communities, student-student and student-teacher interactions take place to resolve concerns among peers about learning, the development of courses and academic programs, as well as to create and strengthen social ties and at the same time develop institutional identity and belonging.
They can be formed as follows:
Student groups: they are organized and meet voluntarily in the centers to discuss, reflect or understand academic issues that can be resolved among themselves or with the teacher at the meeting.
Groups accompanied by mediators (teacher or monitor): these are academic support meetings where the mediator prepares pedagogical strategies to strengthen the formative intentions of the course.
